Wern & her family's favourite sambal

"In my home in Malaysia, sambal isn't just a sauce — it's the heartbeat of every meal."

I grew up surrounded by the intoxicating aroma of exotic ingredients being transformed into slow-cooked magic. Through many years of trial and error, I've perfected a recipe that captures the soul of those Malaysian family feasts.

My family insisted it was a secret too good to keep, and they're the ones who convinced me to bottle it up — so you could have a little taste of our Malaysian home in your own kitchen.

I'm a firm believer that there's no dish on earth that a spoonful of this can't fix.

What's inside

Ingredients

Dried chilli · rapeseed oil · shrimp paste (crustaceans) · onion · garlic · sugar · salt · lime juice.

Small batch & handcrafted. While we take every care, our kitchen handles nuts, gluten, and dairy. Once opened, refrigerate and use within 4 weeks.
How to sambal

One spoon, a hundred dinners.

The breakfast egg

A spoonful over a fried egg on rice. The kind of breakfast that ruins you for plain salt and pepper.

Five-minute noodles

Stir a heaping tablespoon through instant noodles, ramen, or hot rice. Comfort food, sorted.

Stir-fry shortcut

Hot oil, sambal, sizzle. Toss in prawns, chicken, or any greens. Dinner in ten.

Dunk it

Roast chicken, satay, fried tofu, dim sum. If it can be dipped, it'll be better with sambal.
